Alhamra to host music instruments festival
LAHORE: The Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts will hold a one-day traditional music instruments festival, showcasing seasoned musicians and instrumentalists at Alhamra.
The festival will feature a range of classical instruments, including the sitar, flute, tabla and sarangi, performed by both academy teachers and emerging young talent.
The event aims to engage and acquaint youth with Pakistan’s rich heritage of traditional music instruments. A number of notable film and television personalities, musicians, and students from various colleges and universities will attend.
In a bid to further preserve and promote cultural heritage, the academy plans to establish a mini-museum of traditional music instruments. It is also working towards developing a formal syllabus for music classes, currently held as hobby courses.
