Three law enforcers among six martyred in KP attacks

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN/D.I.KHAN: Six people, including three law enforcers, lost their lives in multiple attacks in Lower South Wazir­is­tan and Dera Ismail Khan districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday.

In South Waziristan, gunmen targeted a vehicle in Daza Ghundai area of Wana tehsil using rockets and automatic weapons. As a result, three people, including a constable of the Counter-Terrorism Departm­ent, were martyred.

The police official was identified as Usman Wazir whereas the civilians killed in the shooting were identified as Mustafa Wazir and Younis Wazir.

DSP Amin Wazir said the bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Wana for post-mortem, adding that an investigation into the attack had been started.

The funeral prayer of the martyred constable was offered at Police Lines Wana and was attended by civil and military officials, including South Waziristan Scouts Com­m­andant Muhammad Tahir and CTD SP Muhammad Altaf. The deceased was laid to rest in his native village Seekach, Wana. Mustafa Wazir and Younis Wazir were also buried in their native villages.

In the second incident, unidentified armed men killed Adram Jan Wazir in the Ghorlama area of tehsil Birmal. The deceased was shifted to Sholam Hospital for post-mortem. He was later laid to rest in his native village of Wacha Khowara.

Police officials told Dawn that Adram Jan had gone to Ghorlama from Wacha Khowara where the incident occurred. They said the investigation into the incident was underway.

Two FC men martyred

In D.I. Khan, a vehicle of the Frontier Corps on protocol duty was targeted near Gandi Ashiq area of Daraban Kalan tehsil, resulting in the death of two officials.

One of the martyred officials was identified as Syed Amin, serving as a barber with the unit. According to sources, the attack occurred when the protocol squad was returning from duty in Gandi Ashiq. The assailants ambushed the vehicle and managed to flee the scene.

A statement issued by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack that claimed two lives and ordered the police to take steps to arrest the suspects involved in the incident. He also extended condolences to the families of the martyred.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene and transported the injured personnel and the body of the martyred official to Mufti Mahmood Memorial Teaching Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

The police cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to trace the attackers. There was no statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in this regard.
