Meeting reviews issues facing Kunri taluka

UMERKOT: A key meeting was held here on Wednesday to address the issues of increasing suicides, worsening law and order, increasing encroachments, rising transport fares and frequent road accidents in Kunri taluka.

According to reports, Kunri Assistant Commissioner (AC) Muhammad Khan Bhangwar presided over the meeting held on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Held at the assistant commissioner’s office, it was attended by Kunri DSP Liaqat Ali Jaskani, Umerkot RTO Syed Shiraz Ali Shah, Traffic Police Incharge Bhambro, representatives from taluka hospital, Hesco officials, transporters, representatives from trade organisations and town committee administration, community elders and journalists.

It focused on multiple issues affecting the taluka, including the widespread encroachments on main city roads, consistent fare increase despite reductions in petroleum product prices, frequent road accidents and the growing suicide rate. The taluka hospital’s challenges were also discussed.
