Two suspects shot dead in ‘encounters’
KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead in as many ‘encounters’ in the city.
Sohrab Goth SHO Wazeer Ali said one suspect was killed while another wounded in an ‘encounter’ near Indus Plaza on late Wednesday night.
The officer said police had received information about robbery at Indus Plaza, after which personnel had been deployed there. When the suspects arrived there, the police challenged them and an exchange of gunfire took place.
As a result, one suspect, identified as Ajab Gul, was killed on the spot while another, Khayal Mohammed, was arrested in wounded condition. Their third accomplice was also wounded but he managed to escape, the officer added.
Two pistols with rounds were recovered from their custody. The body and wounded were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In another encounter, a suspected robber was gunned down while his accomplice arrested in wounded condition on Sharea Pakistan in the limits of Jauharabad police.
Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said that the encounter took place in Naseerabad near a private bank, after which two suspects were arrested in wounded condition. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where one of them, identified as Yaseen Sattar, died while his accomplice, Al-Amin, was admitted for treatment.
The police recovered one pistol and one motorcycle from their custody.
Meanwhile, a man was shot at and wounded apparently by suspected robbers in Surjani Town on Thursday.
Area SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada said that 30-year-old Abdul Malik was riding a motorcycle when two suspects on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled.
