Stricter entry rules for visitors at Karachi airport planned

KARACHI: Visitors accompanying passengers to Karachi airport will now be required to carry a copy of the airline ticket and computerised national identity cards (CNICs) amid security concerns, multiple news outlets reported on Tuesday.

According to ARY News, the recent security protocols are being introduced following a suicide attack on Chinese nationals near Karachi airport, which was facilitated from inside the airport.

The regulations mandate that anyone showing up at the airport to receive or see off passengers must present a copy of the traveller’s ticket at security checkpoints, said Geo News while quoting unnamed sources.

Entry will be denied without a ticket copy.

Under the new directives, airport entry will be granted to a maximum of four individuals accompanying each passenger.

Additionally, those arriving to receive passengers must carry their original CNICs, which will be required for verification at security checkpoints while entering the airport’s premises.
