Microsoft plans to expand Xbox games

Microsoft is set to release more Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, as confirmed by CEO Satya Nadella in his annual shareholder letter. Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Nadella emphasised the company’s vision of increasing access to Xbox titles. Microsoft has already brought four games — Pentiment, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, and Hi-Fi Rush — to these competing platforms. With the upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5 in 2025, there are speculations about potential future releases for Nintendo’s rumoured console.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes sequel in 2027

A sequel to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been officially confirmed by 20th Century Studios, with a projected release in 2027. Steve Asbell, President of the studio, noted that the focus is on revitalising major franchises under Disney, following the success of Avatar, Prey and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

While specifics about the sequel remain unclear, the conclusion of Kingdom sets the stage for future developments, particularly with characters Noa and Mae navigating the potential for conflict between apes and humans. The film made over $397 million globally, becoming the tenth highest-grossing movie of the year.

Venom-Spider-Man crossover speculated

As the storyline in Venom: The Last Dance raises questions about Spider-Man’s future, fans are buzzing about a potential crossover between Venom and Spider-Man, particularly involving Knull, the creator of the symbiotes. This speculation aligns with Sony Pictures’ apparent strategy to expand its Spider-Man Universe.

The King in Black storyline, where Knull attempts to conquer the Marvel Universe and is ultimately defeated by Venom, could provide a compelling narrative foundation for this crossover. With Spider-Man 4 set to begin filming in Summer 2025, fans are eager to see how these characters may intersect. This crossover appears to be a logical step for Sony as it continues to build its cinematic universe around Spider-Man and related characters. More details on the potential crossover are anticipated as developments unfold.
