Murder convict sentenced to life imprisonment

TAXILA: A local court on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for shooting to death a man over old enmity in Surgsalar village the limits of the Attock Saddar Police station in 2021.

According to the FIR registered under section 302 and109of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), the accused identified as Saeed Akhter has shot dead a man identified as Nember Khan over some old feud and later fled.

Police arrested the suspect after a week-long search. Later during the trial, the prosecution produced substantial evidence against the accused which established the convict’s involvement in the murder of the man.

Two arrested for assaulting filming naked man Police on Saturday arrested two persons for allegedly sexually assaulting a man and also filming him naked in village Tarbethi in the limits of Bhattar Police station.

Khawar Rehman has reported to police that the suspects took him to their house on the pretext of giving his outstanding wages where they allegedly sexually assaulted him and also filmed him naked.

Later, police has took him to tehsil headquarters hospital Fatehjang for medical examination which confirmed assault.

Separately, Taxila Police on Saturday arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in a murder case registered against him on June 13.

The police spokesman said that the suspect identified as Amjad along with his two other companions shot dead a

man identified as Ijaz after exchange of hot words over some issue.

The spokesman said that the suspect went underground after killing the man and subsequently was declared proclaimed offender (PO) by the respective court.

Drug peddler held

Police on Saturday arrested a lady drug peddler while selling narcotics and recovered hashish from her possession.

Police sources said that the Bhattar police acting on tip off raided the house of the drug peddler and recovered 1.46 kilogram hashish from her possession.

A case was registered against the drug peddler under section 9-C of control of narcotics substance act 1997 and launched further investigation.
