Nine shot in rivals’ ambush over litigation

SARGODHA: Nine people were critically injured in a gun attack by their rivals as they were coming to appear in the court of the Sahiwal tehsil courts on Thursday.

Jhamat group had litigation and old enmity with the Pohla groups. Nine members of Jhamat group were coming to appear in the case on motorcycles tehsil courts. When they reached near Chah Chishtian Mor, the armed men of the Pohla group, including Kamran, Kanwal, Fayyaz, Fakhr, Naeem and Mudassar, ambushed them and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

As a result, Imran, Akbar, Saran, Sohail, Rizwan, Azam, Aun Abbas and a passer-by, Asif Sultan, were seriously injured. They were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal and Farruka Medical Centre. Police reached the spot and collected the evidence.

Sargodha Regional Police Officer Asif Shehzad Khan and District Police Officer Dr Asad Ejaz Malhi ordered Tarkhanwala Police to arrest the suspects.

The DPO said a police team had been formed under DSP Haq Nawaz Makan to arrest the suspects a.

ACCIDENTS: Three people died and one was injured in separate road accidents.

In the first incident, a man and his 17-year-old daughter were killed as a coaster hit their motorcycle near Ajnala Railway Station on the Bhalwal-Sargodha road.

According to sources, 50-year-old Asjad Munir Tabasam of Chak 16-SB was going on his motorcycle with his daughter, Almas. When they reached near the Ajnala Railway Station, a speeding coaster hit their motorcycle, resulting in the instant death of both of them. Their bodies were shifted to the hospital.

In another accident, a youth died while another was injured near Bagowal.

Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Farooq of Sahiwal tehsil were travelling on a motorcycle when it was hit by a rickshaw. As they fell on the road, a speeding van coming behind them ran them over. As a result, Farooq died while Arif was critically injured. The latter was shifted to the THQ Hospital.

Both the rickshaw driver and the van driver managed to escape.

BURNT: Two persons were seriously injured due to a fire at an oil distribution agency at village Jalpana.

The fire broke out at the diesel agency and it badly burnt Akhtar Nawaz and Ahmed Hayat, the owner of the agency. Rescue 1122 brought the fire under control and transferred the injured to the DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha.
