3 of a family shot dead in Sheikhupura over old rivalry

NAROWAL: Three members of a family were killed and another injuredat Kuralke Minara village in Sheikhupura district, over old rivalry on Monday.

According to police, the attackers opened fire on head of the family, Abdul Hameed (40), his son Tariq (40), daughter Ishrat (28) and Tariq’s son Azan Tariq (18).

After the firing, the suspects fled the spot brandishing weapons.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, a team of the emergency service immediately reached the spot on being called and found Tariq, Ishrat Bibi and Azan lying dead on the spot.

The rescuers provided first aid to Abdul Hameed and shifted him to the District Headquarters Hospital, Sheikhupura.

Sheikhupura Saddar police immediately reached the spot on the information of firing and collected evidence.

Rescue 1122 handed over the bodies of the three family members to the police.

Sheikhupura District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Sheikh, taking notice of the triple-murder, ordered blockade of the entrance and exit routes of the district for the suspects’ arrest.

The DPO has also formed raiding teams headed by the Investigation wing SP for the immediate arrest of the suspects.

According to police sources, old enmity seemed to be the motive of the triple murder.

INJURED: Seven persons, including five women, were injured when a bike collided with a motorcycle-rickshawnear a private hospital on Muridke Road in Sheikhupura.

As per Rescue 1122, a team reached the spot immediately and shifted the injured to hospital. According to hospital sources, the condition of two of the injured persons is critical.

The accident occurred due to speeding.

University closed: The University of Narowal has been closed until Nov 29 due to unavoidable circumstances.

University spokesperson Dr Babar Zaid said the online classes had commenced for the 7,000 students enrolled at the university, while administrative and teaching staff would remain present on the campus.

A formal notification of closure, issued by the assistant registrar on the vice chancellor’s instructions, cited unavoidable circumstances as the reason for the decision.
