PESHAWAR An anti-terrorism court here on Tuesday remanded into police custody for further 15 days a police constable allegedly involved in the last year’s devastating suicide bombing at Peshawar Police Lines, which claimed 84 lives.

The suspect, Muhammad Wali, who the police claimed was arrested on Nov 11, was produced before the court presided over by judge Mohammad Iqbal Khan amid tight security here by officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department.

The suspect was earlier produced before the court on Nov 11 and was remanded to police custody for 15 days.

An investigation officer of the CTD informed the court that the suspect had made several disclosures to the police about his involvement in the occurrence.

He stated that his further physical remand was needed as the investigation from him had still not been completed.

The disclosure about arrest of the suspect was made by the KP Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan during a press briefing.

He had claimed that the suspect was arrested along with two suicide jackets from near the Jameel Chowk on the Peshawar’s Ring Road.

The IGP had stated that the suspect operated in line with the order of the banned organisation, Jamaatul Ahrar, and received Rs200,000 through the hundi-hawala system.

He had added that the policeman also received Rs40,000 to Rs50,000 from the banned group per month.

The IGP stated that the suspect was also involved in other incidents, including killing of a priest in Jan 2022 at Jamil Chowk here.
