PPP’s 57th Foundation Day celebrated
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday observed the foundation day in the garrison city with a promise to fulfill the dream of the party founder chairman and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to bring socio-economic change in the society and raise the voice of voiceless segments of the society.
The ceremony of the 57th Foundation Day of the PPP was held at a local hotel in Rawalpindi. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s speech was telecast simultaneously across the country via live video link.
Former prime minister and PPP Central Punjab President Raja Pervez Ashraf, former Pakistan Baitul Mal managing director Amir Fida Paracha, vice presidents Punjab Khalid Nawaz Bobby, Rana Rafaqat Ali Khan, Nasir Mir, Raja Mohammad Ali Minhas and Sardar Quddus also addressed the ceremony before the speech of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
All ward committees of PPP Rawalpindi, PSF, People’s Youth Organisation, women’s department, People’s Traders Cell, People’s Lawyers Forum, Cultural Wing workers participated enthusiastically.
A cake was also cut at the end of the ceremony.
Meanwhile, PPP-Workers also paid rich tributes to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founding chairman of the PPP.
In a press release, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s political secretary Naheed Khan said the party was founded on November 30, 1967, by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to empower the people of Pakistan and to fight for the rights of the common man.
“His legacy continues to inspire the under privileged and guide all Bhuttoists in the party to follow his ideology,” she said. Naheed Khan said on this foundation day, PPP-Workers strongly feels that the only possible way to remember Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was to follow the principles of democracy, social justice and equality that he and his daughter Benazir Bhutto always stood for.
