ATC disposes of bail pleas of PTI workers

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday disposed of interim pre-arrest bail petitions of seven PTI workers in the Jinnah House attack case of May 9 riots after police found them innocent in investigation.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the bail petitions of Rizwan Farid, Muhammad Aslam, Muzamil Hussain, Asma Mumtaz, Hayatullah, Muhammad Ramzan and Muhammad Zulfiqar.

A member of a joint investigation team (JIT) submitted a report to the court, declaring the petitioners/suspects innocent.

At this, the defence lawyers requested the court for withdrawal of the bail applications.

The judge allowed the request and disposed of the petitions.

Separately, the judge allowed bail to activists Malik Haider and Muhammad Bilal in the Jinnah House attack case subject to surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.

The judge also adjourned the post-arrest bail petitions of PTI Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid in two cases of May 9 riots till Dec 21 due to unavailability of her counsel.

She filed the petitions for bail in Askari Tower attack case and burning of Shadman police station.
