High Court Road cleared of encroachments: RDA
RAWALPINDI: In order to enhance the flow of traffic and maintain public safety, encroachments on High Court Road were removed on the directions of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Kinza Murtaza.
A spokesperson for the RDA said the action aimed to restore order, improve road accessibility and ensure a safer environment for commuters and pedestrians.
“The Enforcement Squad initiated a comprehensive operation to clear illegal structures, vendors, and unauthorised street installations obstructing traffic and posing a risk to public safety. The operation, which was carried out in collaboration with local law enforcement, received widespread support from the general public who have long expressed concern over the increasing encroachments in the area.”
The spokesperson said that the operation was part of the broader efforts to restore the city’s infrastructure, and make sure that all roads remained accessible and safe for the public, the RDA spokesperson quoted DG Kinza Murtaza as saying.
“Encroachments not only create traffic congestion but also present significant hazards. The RDA is committed to maintaining the integrity of Rawalpindi’s urban spaces.”
She said the operation targeted illegal constructions along High Court Road, including unauthorised shops and street vendors, which had been contributing to the growing traffic congestion and hindering smooth movement in the area.
“Local authorities have emphasised that the removal of these encroachments will significantly improve the overall traffic management system and enhance the aesthetic value of the locality,” she said.
She said RDA was also planning a series of operations across Rawalpindi to eliminate encroachments on other major roads as part of a larger urban planning strategy aimed at optimising the city’s infrastructure and providing a better experience for both residents and visitors.
“The public is urged to cooperate with authorities to ensure that encroachment-free zones are maintained and that the city’s streets remain safe and accessible for all,” she said.
