SKIN DISEASES
SKIN DISEASES: Many residents of Baba Island face a growing health crisis owing to the spread of common skin diseases that are often overlooked and left untreated. The lack of proper healthcare facilities, along with limited awareness, has made these conditions a serious concern for the local community. Fungal infections, eczema and scabies not only cause pain, but also leave people feeling isolated and embarrassed. Raising awareness and providing proper healthcare services are crucial. Medical camps, better treatment, and education on hygiene practices could greatly improve the health and wellbeing of the people. The authorities should take immediate action to help the affected people.

ALONE IN THE CROWD: I recently witnessed an incident that broke my heart and left me in a state of utter glum. A person in a wheelchair was struggling to navigate through a crowded street, but, despite seeing him struggle to make through the difficult situation, not one person stopped to help him. People simply stepped aside, avoided eye contact, and went on with their day as if he did not even exist. People with disabilities do not ask for special treatment. They simply want to be seen and heard, to be given the same opportunities and respect that everyone else receives. It is time we stopped treating them like invisible beings, stopped looking away when they need help, and considered them equal and valuable human beings that they are.

DUG-UP ROADS: I live in Gulzar-i-Hijri. During the heavy rains in 2020, the residents had dug up the road to let the water flow easily into a nearby brook. It has been four years, but the road has not been repaired yet. The road was dug up for a new water pipeline as well, but it was not repaired after the work was completed. The condition of the road affects the area residents and passers-by. The authorities responsible for the repair should take notice of the matter.
