Jirga imposes Rs48.9m fine on warring sides to settle blood feud

SUKKUR: A jirga held in Kandhkot on Wednesday imposed a total of Rs48.9 million fine on two groups of Domki clan to settle a running feud which was triggered by ‘offensive’ comments posted by members of one group on social media two years back and claimed 13 lives on both sides over two years.

The jirga presided over by former MNA Dr Ibrahim Jatoi, ex-MPA Mir Abid Khan Jatoi and former provincial minister Mir Ghalib Hussain Domki at Domki House in Kandhkot settled the dispute between Badani Domki and Phalwani Domki groups.

The jirga fixed blood money for a man’s murder at Rs2.5 million and a woman’s at Rs5m. Rs30.2m had been imposed on Phalwani clan and Rs18.7m on Badani clan. Thirty-nine people were also injured during clashes.
