ANP leader among two killed in Karak ambush
LAKKI MARWAT: A local leader of Awami National Party and his companion were killed when rivals opened fire on their car in Terri area of Karak district, the police on Sunday.
They said that after the attack the car caught fire, and the bodies were burnt.
The deceased were identified as ANP Banda Daud Shah tehsil chapter president Mustajab Alam, 48, and his companion, Parvez Khan, 44.
The assailants fled the place after the gun attack, they said.
Farooq Khan, a brother of deceased Parvez Khan, told the police that Riaz, Shakir, Shoaib and Asif attacked Mustajab and his brother when they were returning home from fields in a car.
The police said the burnt bodies were taken to nearby hospital for postmortem.
They said they had initiated an investigation after registration of a case under relevant sections of law.
Separately, a man was killed and three others, including a woman, were injured in a firing incident in Bannu.
The police said that armed men opened fire on a pick-up truck over an old enmity in Bakkakhel area, killing Habibullah.
They said that the injured included Nasreena Bibi, 58, Suffa, 4, and Hadia, 6.
The body and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
