Warraich, Korai elected Karachi bar president, secretary
KARACHI: Aamir Nawaz Warraich and Muhammad Rehman Korai have been elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) in its annual elections.
According to the official results, Advocate Warraich, who has been elected for a second term, defeated Munir Ahmed Malik (backed by the Independent Group) and the outgoing general secretary, Ikhtiar Ali Channa, with a margin of over 310 votes. Advocate Korai secured his position by defeating Tabish Mahmood, son of former KBA leader Mahmood ul Hassan, with a margin of over 850 votes.
Other office-bearers elected include Kazim Hussain Mahesar as vice president, Imran Aziz as joint secretary, Haseebullah Panhwar as treasurer, and Riaz Ahmed as librarian.
Members elected to the managing committee are Muzamil Qureshi, Zakir Ali Baloch, Syed Jaffar Hassan, Sheeraz Hussain Shar, Naseer Ahmed Panhwar, Mayrum Bibi, Ishfaque Ahmed Buriro, Arifa Prizada, Amjad Ali Shabrani, Allah Wadhayo Narejo, and Ali Hasnain Sargana.
Malir Bar elects new office-bearers
Irshad Ali Shar and Ayaz Ali Chandio have been elected as president and general secretary, respectively, of the Malir Bar Association.
Following the announcement of Advocate Irshad’s victory, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab extended his congratulations on his official Facebook page on Sunday, sharing a photograph with the newly elected president.
