Robbers loot foreign currency, gold in two hits

NAROWAL: In two robbery incidents in Sialkot’s Pasrur tehsil, robbers held families hostage and looted foreign currency and gold ornaments worth Rs20.76 million before fleeing on Monday.

The first incident occurred in the house of Asher Ahmed at Tharoh village.

According to Asher’s statement to the police, six robbers broke into the house while a relative who had recently returned from Germany was also present. Armed with modern automatic weapons, robbers looted Rs400,000 in cash, 22 tolas of gold jewellery and 33,900 euros and other valuables.

Asher said the robbers threatened to kill them if they resisted.

The second robbery occurred in Malowal village of the same tehsil. Property dealer Shahryar Zafar reported to the police that eight robbers broke into his house while he and his family were asleep.

The robbers, also armed and dressed in black uniforms, looted Rs600,000, 25 tolas of gold ornaments, 1,000 euros and 5,000 dirhams.

Both incidents took place n the jurisdiction of Phalora police station, where FIRs have been registered.

The affected families described the robbers as 5’9” tall, all dressed in black trousers, shirts and joggers and carrying modern weapons.
