Seven held in Haripur for shaving youth’s head, beard
HARIPUR: Yet another young man became victim of violent behaviours and exposed to public humiliation when his rivals allegedly shaved his head and beard before stripping him in a remote village of Khanpur tehsil, police said here on Tuesday.
The influential people also attacked a police party with sticks and stones when they reached the village to arrest them, the police said. The motive behind the humiliation, according to police, was a property dispute between the two families.
Khanpur police quoted Ahmed Yameen, 20, a resident of Mulsim Abad village, as saying that he went to Baghpur Dheri Bazaar to buy some grocery for home. He said when he was on way back home, a car stopped near him and four accused from the same village forced him inside the vehicle at gunpoint and drove him to a forested area.
The accused, according to the complainant, were joined by three others, who beat him up with kicks.
“They shaved my head, mustache, eyebrows and beard before stripping me, and made a video of him with their mobile phones,” he said.
According to the victim, the accused fled the scene when they saw two policemen approaching them.
He said that the policemen were on duty in the area to provide security to polio workers.
