Man shot dead during robbery
RAWALPINDI: A teenage boy was gunned down during a robbery attempt in Kahuta area, while another was shot and injured during a robbery in the Civil Lines area near Gymkhana on Monday night, police said.
Mohammad Sarfraz lodged an FIR with the police saying that his brothers Iftikhar Ahmad, Imtiaz Ahmad and son Mohammad Haseeb, 17, had gone to Rawalpindi to visit his brother-in-law in their car when they were returning back, they found three unidentified persons attempted to block their way near Nathot by-pass at about 10:30 pm.
He further said that instead of responding, they did not stop and continued their journey. In retaliation, the robbers fired gunshots on the car injuring his son Haseeb. The injured was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have registered a case under section of murder and attempted robbery.
However, the culprits were yet to be traced.
In a similar incident which happened close to Commissioner and Deputy commissioner Rawalpindi’s official residence, a man was shot and injured and robbed of cash and other goods by three unidentified robbers on Monday night.
Mohammad Ibrahim, a resident of Morgah, lodged an FIR with the police saying that he with Raja Mohammad Tayyab and Amjad Bhatti were on their way to Morgah after buying some parts of mobile phones from Raja Bazar when they reached near Gymkhana, they were intercepted by three motorcycle riders.
He said that one of the suspects attempted to snatch goods from them while another suspect fired a gunshot and injured him. Later, the suspected robbers sped off as the victims started shouting for help.
While talking to Dawn, the victim said that they were on their way to Morgah when they slowed down their motorcycle at two speed breakers located near Gymkhana, they were intercepted by three unidentified motorcycle riders who attempted to snatch a bag from him.
He said he was shot and injured by one of the robbers after he resisted and refused to give up the bag.
