Remodelling of Johar Town’s G-1 Market starts

LAHORE: The civil work related to remodelling of the Johar Town’s G-1 Market was launched on Thursday.

Under the plan, the market would be made on the pattern of Liberty Market, equipped with the sufficient pathways, designated parking area in an automated parking lot, proper sewerage/drainage, water supply system and other civic facilities.

“We have achieved a milestone of launching civil work to remodel the busiest market of Johar Town. Hopefully, the works would be completed within stipulates time frame,” LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said after inaugurating the work at the market along with the local traders.

The LDA Urban Development Wing officers briefed the DG and traders about the nature of works, stating that the various pathways and parking area would have new tuff tiles.

A controlled traffic system would also be introduced besides underground electricity wires. Moreover, sewerage/drainage works would also be executed, the officers said.

“We pay thanks to the traders union for rendering cooperation in launching the remodelling works,” the DG said, directing the engineering team to ensure use of quality material in the project.

BoR: The spokesperson for the Board of Revenue Punjab said the public auction of government land in DG Khan, Multan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Lahore and Gujrat has been started.

The auction process of government land would be completed by Jan 2, 2025, in which 21 properties worth more than Rs100m would be auctioned in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sargodha and Multan while 247 government land chunks worth less than Rs100m would be auctioned in DG Khan, Sargodha, Kasur, Multan and Gujranwala.

The bidding process for the auctions has been started in the respective districts under the supervision of commissioners and BoR members.

RUDA: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda) sealed offices of a housing society in the Ravi project area on account of nonpayment of dues.

It also sealed 22 offices of the scheme’s property estate agents, according to a spokesman for the authority.

On the other hand, separate teams sealed a plant for causing smog in the area.

The teams further sealed a metal casting factory besides serving notice to another on the issue of smog.

The teams sealed another two factories in the Chahar Bagh area, the spokesman added.
