Two families robbed at gunpoint in Dera

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified armed men robbed at gunpoint two families travelling in separate vehicles on Bannu Road here the other day.

The robbers snatched Rs359,000 cash, four ATM cards, official laptops, six mobile phones and other valuables from five members of the two families. Police said that seven armed men intercepted two vehicles near Gloti Telenor Tower diversion and robbed five individuals at gunpoint.

Danish Mehsud, a resident of South Waziristan currently residing in Dera Ismail Khan, told police that he along with Ikramullah Marwat and driver Ameerzada Mehsud was coming from Peshawar when robbers took away a mobile phone, Rs50,000 cash, an ATM card, and a laptop from him.

He said that robbers also snatched Rs150,000, two ATM cards, and a mobile phone from Ikramullah and Rs6,000, a driving licence and a mobile phone from Ameerzada.

The vehicle of Fakhruddin and Ziaullah was also intercepted by the robbers. They snatched Rs150,000, two mobile phones from Fakhruddin and Rs3,000 along with an ATM card from Ziaullah.

Meanwhile, the additional SHO of Paharpur, Yunas Khan Baloch, passed away due to cardiac arrest when he was escorting polio vaccinators here on Thursday. He was the brother of former nazim Gul Sher Baloch and uncle of SHO Aftab Alam Baloch.

VULTURE RESCUED: The wildlife department rescued a large vulture that was injured after colliding with power supply line in Prova tehsil the other day.

The bird was provided with immediate first aid and later transported to wildlife park for further care. It will be released into its natural habitat after recovery.

A statement said the right wing of the bird was injured when it hit the power supply line.
