SHANGLA: The owners of public transport vehicles from Kohistan district refused to operate their vehicles from Bisham general bus stand and expressed their preference to run their services independently from various locations in Bisham.

A second round of the jirga was held at the assistant commissioner’s office in Bisham the other day. Elders and transporters from various parts of Kohistan and Bisham attended. AC Bisham Adnan Khan and TMA officials were present on the occasion.

The jirga members from Kohistan said that they were ready to pay the municipal taxes but were unwilling to operate their passenger vehicles from the general bus stand, which was located at the end of Bisham bazaar. They stated that the movement of passenger vehicles in the bazaar during the daytime took more time due to traffic jams, and the transporters operating to Mansehra and Abbottabad were also causing problems for their vehicles.

The transporters and elders from Bisham insisted that the dispute must now end, and the Kohistan transporters should return to the general bus stand to operate their services from there.

The assistant commissioner set a deadline of 26th December and asked the Kohistan and Shangla transporters to form a committee of four members to resolve the issue permanently.

PROTEST CALL: The Shangla district bar association, in a meeting, called for a protest tomorrow (Friday) against terrorist incidents in the area.

The district bar president, Waqif Shah Advocate, said that they had decided to hold a protest in Alpuri against the recent terror attacks in the area and to demand the restoration of peace.
