Bus hostess, passenger die in accident
TOBA TEK SINGH: A bus hostess and a passenger died and six others were injured as their bus hit another bus from its rear near Abdul Hakeem interchange on M-4 at night.
Rescue 1122 reported that the bus was going to Multan. Deceased were identified as hostess Amna Bibi (30) and Sikandar Ali (28), residents of Multan. Five of the injured were given first aid while one Amer Tufail (34), a resident of Lahore was shifted to Shorkot Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
AIRPORT: More than 775 flights could land at the Faisalabad International Airport after the expansion of its runway while a state-of-the-art cargo complex will also be established there after completing due formalities.
This was stated by the airport manager Tasneem Akhtar Jameel while addressing businessmen at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
Ms Jameel asked the exporters to provide data of cargo load so that this process could be expedited. She said many airlines had suspended their operation from Faisalabad but hopefully, they would return back soon. She said all new airlines would be allotted slots according to their demand and contrary to Lahore, 100pc baggage of passengers was being scanned at Faisalabad.
FCCI President Rehan Naseem Bharara said Faisalabad had emerged on the global map of aviation when international flights started from this city in 2014-15 due to the efforts of the FCCI.
Former FCCI president Mian Javed Iqbal said the CAA should contact the managements of Fly Dubai, Fly Jinnah, Air Blue, Air Sial and other airlines to start their operation from Faisalabad to capitalise on its huge untapped potential.
He said that currently local cargo was being routed through Lahore and Sialkot airports as they had no scanner at Faisalabad.
The meeting was also attended by Qaisar Shams Gucha, Muzammil Sultan, Mian Aftab and Shabbir Hussain Chawala and executive members Muhammad Ali, Hamid Gillani and Naveed Gulzar.
SENTENCED: Additional District and Sessions Judge Faisalabad Muhammad Safdar handed down death sentence and fine of Rs500,000 to two convicts in double murder cases.
The convicts were identified as Muhammad Suleman and Sajjad Ahmad of Rodala, Faisalabad.
According to prosecution, the convicts had shot dead Maqsood Ahmad and Zafrullah over enmity in 2021.
KIDNAPPED: A man kidnapped a married woman and her minor child from Hazara Colony, Gojra.
Riaz Masih, father of Maria Wasim, claimed in his FIR registered with Gojra City police that he and other family members were not home when Sahil Masih, a resident of Chak 352-JB, and his three accomplices arrived there by a van. They bundled Maria and her two-year-old son into the van and fled.
