‘Govt believes in dialogue, not political terrorism’

LAHORE: Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has said that the government believes in political dialogue and that political terrorism cannot work.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore on Sunday, he said that attacks were carried out on the country under the guise of politics.

He said that May 9 was an unforgivable crime as the monuments of martyrs were demolished on that day. Referring to sentencing 25 of the accused involved in the attacks, he said that its mastermind would also be punished.

Regretting that trends were being run on social media against the country from abroad, he said that the incumbent government did not believe in the politics of chaos and division because political parties later, while Pakistan comes first. He said that political differences should be resolved with politicians.

He recalled that inflation was at its peak during the government of PTI founder Imran Khan, but Nawaz Sharif’s party managed to cut it down and all economic indicators in the country were now positive – the stock exchange is at its highest level, development projects are being executed, foreign businessmen are coming to invest in Pakistan.

The minister said that inflation would go down further, the value of the rupee was stable, while the country was moving towards development.
