This is believed to have been the … Foreign Minister’s fourth or fifth meeting with [Gen] McNaughton since the Kashmir Commission’s report reached Lake Success.
Gen McNaughton also held a meeting behind closed doors yesterday [Dec 21] with members of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan. The UNCIP is expected to hold another closed meeting at Lake Success on Friday [Dec 23] but Gen McNaughton is not expected to attend it.
Gen McNaughton is now said to be in possession of the complete picture regarding the withdrawal of troops difficulty, believed by most to be … the main question to which he is addressing himself in producing an acceptable formula. … It is considered unlikely that the Security Council will meet this week. Gen McNaughton is said to be planning to present his formula to the Council early next week.
