LARKANA: People of Pakistan have been asked by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to postpone full consumption of all that is in short supply and ensure fairer shares for all at reasonable prices now and larger shares with a greater buoyancy in our economy in the future. In a message … on Eid-ul-Azha, the [PM] said, this would be a practical demonstration of the spirit of sacrifice. As upholders of the magnificent tradition of sacrifice set by Hazrat Ibrahim, “we must be willing to sacrifice our individual and personal interests for the sake of the community as a whole,” he said. “My appeal for inculcating the true spirit of this holy festival is to Pakistanis as well as Muslims the world over. …”

He asked the people to resolve … not to allow personal considerations, parochial sentiments and individual likes and dislikes. The Prime Minister’s message said: “Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-ul-Azha every year to perpetuate the memory of Hazrat Ibrahim and emulate the noble tradition of sacrifice set by him. This tradition reflects a great event in history, because it teaches us not to hesitate to sacrifice our most valuable and cherished possessions in implicit obedience to God’s will. …”
