Traffic restored on Quetta-Karachi highway after 30 hours

KHUZDAR: The traffic between Quetta and Karachi was restored after 30 hours on Sunday following a protest against the kidnapping of a man.

Syed Ahmed Shah, a resident of Kalat, went missing around two days ago, his family claimed. His heirs and other people blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway at Kalat to protest the alleged disappearance.

Hundreds of vehicles, including passenger coaches, buses and trucks, remained stranded on both sides of the highway due to the protest.

The passengers faced severe hardship as they spent their time on the road amid severe cold.

After over 30 hours of protest, the highway was reopened following negotiations between the protesters and the Kalat deputy commissioner, Bilal Shabbir.

The official assured the protester that all efforts would be made to trace Mr Shah.
