Prince Saeed Abbasi seeks PM’s help: Bahawalpur amir’s assets

BAHAWALPUR, April 17: Former federal minister Prince Saeedul Rashid Abbasi, a legal heir to the late amir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi, while alleging malpractice by the implementation committee with regard to the distribution of the late amir’s property among his heirs, has appealed to the prime minister to order an independent inquiry into it.

In a letter to Premier Shaukat Aziz and federal Minister for States and Frontier Region Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Prince Saeed said the committee while completing its task on Feb 18, ignored the Supreme Court’s directions given on June 5, 2002.

It may be recalled that most of the distribution work and mutation process of the property of the late amir has already been completed but the division of shares of heirs in the palaces, including the historic Sadiqgarh Palace, was still to be done.

Recently, there was a row over the alleged theft of the discarded material from the courtyard of Sadiqgarh Palace between the rival groups of heirs and the matter was taken to a court.

PML-N: Former prime minister and PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has urged his workers to free Pakistan of dictatorship.

In his message read out at a workers convention here at the residence of MPA Malik Iqbal Channar on Sunday night, Mr Sharif said dictators have caused a great loss to the country’s reputation.

Punjab PML-N chief Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa criticised the government for its hollow claims of good governance and said the writ of government could not be established by firing on the Pakistanis in Balochistan and the NWFP.

He dispelled the impression that the ARD was an election alliance and said it was only one point agenda to restore real democracy.

The convention was addressed by MPAs Iqbal Channar, Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti, National Assembly former deputy speaker Jaffar Iqbal Gujjar, former MNAs Aqeelur Rehman, Mumtaz Jajja, women wing president Begum Ishrat Ashraf, former MPA Samiullah Chaudhry and others.

SHOT AT: Sikandar Warren, 28, nephew of MNA Aamir Yar Warren and CM’s adviser Khalid Mahmood Warren, was allegedly shot at over a property dispute at his village near Ahmadpur East.

He was admitted to hospital in serious condition.
