No progress without education, says minister
SWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour and Manpower Fazal Shakoor Khan has said that social progress is unattainable without quality education.
During his visit to Government Monotech Institute and Working Folks Higher Secondary School in Mingora on Thursday, he underscored the importance of education for development of society.
The minister inaugurated a new two-year DAE programme and a computer laboratory at Monotech Institute. He inspected the classrooms, laboratories, library, and playgrounds of both institutions. He urged teachers to impart quality education to children of labourers enrolled in those schools.
He told the principals of both the institutions that their issues would be addressed promptly. He lauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s measures to raise educational standards and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of education in institutions under labour department’s purview. He also promised to resolve the issue of shortage of teachers in those institutions.
Later, the minister visited Labour Colony, where he presided over a ceremony and issued directives to resolve problems related to cemetery, community hall and water supply for labourers.
He also visited Women’s Vocational Centre in Labour Colony. He toured its various sections and commended the craftsmanship displayed in the garments, handicrafts and shawls showcased at the centre’s stalls.
MS: Renowned physician Prof Naeemullah has been appointed the new medical superintendent (MS) of Saidu Group of Hospitals, according to an official notification issued here on Thursday.
According to the notification, the provincial government appointed Prof Naeemullah the medical superintendent of Saidu Group of Hospitals. He was serving as head of department at Saidu Medical College.
