INACTIVE STATE: The recent heinous attack on vehicles in Kurram area is a result of government’s inefficiency and lack of seriousness to find a viable solution to the long-standing conflict, plaguing the area for long. Had the government done its job perfectly, such incidents would not have been taking place today. The government is not supposed to give a free hand to the militants to use sectarian dynamics and carry out their atrocious activities. It must come up with a proper and holistic plan to eradicate sectarian violence as well as terrorism from tribal areas.

ORGANIC FARMING: The global demand for organic food has been rising quite steadily. Being an agricultural country, we can benefit from this demand and utilise our resourceful areas, like those in Balochistan, for the production of organic products. This can help Pakistan increase its agricultural exports signi- ficantly and improve its soil health. The government needs to ensure the use of organic resources, like manure, for farming, and facilitate the local farmers in growing their crops by providing subsidies and financial assistance.

BRAHVI LANGUAGE: The Brahvi language, spoken by approximately 35 per cent of the population in Balochistan, is among the most common languages in the province. It has played a significant role in Balochistan’s history, and has been found inscribed on ancient stones discovered in Mehrgarh. Unfortunately, the language is considered endangered now. It has now become imperative to preserve our native languages that are a part of our heritage. The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) should include Brahvi as an optional subject in the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination. Undoubtedly, this would open doors for Brahvi speakers, and would help alleviate some burden that is generally faced by the aspirants who have been left with limited options currently.
