Nine varsity students expelled
FAISALABAD, April 19: Nine students of the GC University Faisalabad have been expelled for disrupting the campus atmosphere here on Wednesday.
A group of students told journalists that they had fallen out with some other students over a minor issue which was later resolved amicably.
They claimed that the university administration declared nine students guilty and expelled them without holding any inquiry.
Those expelled include Husnain Shahzad, Faizan Shaukat, Abu Bakar, Sharjeel Najmi, Burhan Arshad, Jazab Ali and Waseem Ahmed.
COP KILLED: A constable was killed while another sustained multiple injuries during an encounter with outlaws in Chak 439-GB (Samundri tehsil), about 45kms from here on Tuesday night.
Reports said armed bandits were looting passersby along the canal when a police motorcycle squad reached there and tried to overpower outlaws. But they opened fire on the policemen which was returned. During the shootout, constable Mureed Hussain died instantly while constable Muhammad Azam sustained serious injuries. However, outlaws managed to escape after committing the crime.
Meanwhile, DPO Muhammad Amin Wains announced a cash reward of Rs500,000 for the family of the deceased constable.
blind murder: Police have declared the killing of Shia scholar Fazil Husain Alvi as blind murder and booked two unidentified persons.
The case has been registered on the report of Qamar Abbas, son of Mr Alvi, under Sections 302 and 34 of the PPC in which the complainant said that he was some meters away from the vehicle of his father near Jail Road when two masked men opened fire.
No section of the Anti-Terrorism Act has been included in the FIR despite the fact that bodies of both the Shia leader and his driver, Qasim Ali, were burnt in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the local police have failed to find any clue to killers. Police officials also met the local religious scholars and assured early arrest of the killers.
