Anti-drought measure: 10 water bowsers, 1,000 jerrycans for desert areas

LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Thursday dispatched 10 water bowsers and 1,000 jerrycans to prevent possible drought-like situation in Thal and Cholistan districts.

As per PDMA officials, four of the water bowsers dispatched to the desert areas have a storage capacity of 12,500 liters each, while the others can store 5,000 liters of water each.

They said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the PDMA to remain alert to deal with possible drought-like situation in the desert areas.

The authority dispatched the water bowsers and jerrycans from its Muzaffargarh warehouse to the desert areas, they added.

Meanwhile, PDMA Additional Director General Jawad Haider Shah has issued instructions to the

relevant officials to complete the anti-drought measures timely. He said that water bowsers are being provided to the districts of Thal and Cholistan and DCs concerned should remain alert in this regard.

He directed the departments concerned to cooperate with each other to ensure water supply to areas where drought-like situation was feared and urged the public to not to waste water at all.
