Thatta council rejects bifurcation
THATTA, April 24: The Thatta district council through a resolution on Monday rejected the proposed bifurcation of the district.
The resolution was moved by UC Mirpur Bathoro Nazim Dr Umer Memon and adopted unanimously.
Convener Iqbal Chandio presided over the session.
The council also demanded that old Sindhi villages in Karachi should be regularised.
UC Ali Bahar Nazim Naseer Shah called upon the Sindh government to release immediately water for the Kharif season because delay in the release would badly affect the paddy crop.
UC Belo Nazim Syed Manzoor Shah said that due to release of contaminated water containing waste of Hyderabad tanneries and other chemicals and pesticides into the Phulelli canal hepatitis B and C have increased in the area.
Darya Khan Soho said that education and health facilities being provided by the Dewan city industrial area to people was nothing but an eyewash.
He said that the council should contact with the Dewan city administration for providing facilities to local people.
The session approved various proposals moved in the previous session. It formed different committees and nominated its chairman and members to improve performance in a number of important fields.
These committee are: literacy, information technology, sports and cultural, community development, health and education, agriculture, law and ethics.
Mehtab Shah said that Surgeon (Dr) Amanullah Mugheri and Surgeon (Dr) Azhar Khaskheli of the Makli Civil Hospital were referring poor patients to a private health complex instead of giving them treatment at the hospital.
District Nazim Shafqat Shah Shirazi asked the EDO health to take notice of it.
The session appreciated surprise raids conducted occasionally by the district nazim on schools and other educational institutions which has rendered positive results.
