Septuagenarian psychiatrist defends PhD thesis

PESHAWAR: Dr Basharat Hussain, a 72-year-old psychiatrist and PhD scholar at Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences (IPH&SS) of Khyber Medical University (KMU), has successfully defended his doctoral thesis.

The defence of his thesis titled “Structure, attributes, and covariates of patient safety initiatives at tertiary healthcare level in Peshawar: A convergent mixed methods discourse” took place at Alexander Fleming Hall of KMU on Thursday.

Dr Hussain completed his research under the supervision of Prof Ziaul Haq, the vice-chancellor of KMU. His thesis was evaluated by Dr Mohammad Farooq Umer from College of Dentistry, King Faisal University, Hofuf, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as external examiner, while Dr Khalid Rehman, the director of IPH&SS, served as his internal examiner.
