TLP leader, family injured in attack by suspects
LAHORE: A Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader, his wife, son, brother and two gunmen were injured when unidentified persons opened fire on them in Sundar on Monday night.
Police said the family of TLP leader Haji Nawaz –his wife Kulsoom Bibi, son Nadeem Nawaz, brother Malik Nasir – and two guards Idrees and Shahid were travelling by a car when unknown suspects opened fire on them.
Six individuals, including a woman, were injured in the attack. The injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered the registration of a case and the arrest of the suspects. The police registered a case and arrested four suspects including Murtaza, Tahir Abbas, Ali Murtaza and Muhammad Rustam Hayat.
Mr Kamran said the incident is the result of a conflict between two rival groups — the Murtaza alias Pappu group and the Nawaz aka Guddu Jilania group.
He said no one is allowed to take the law into their hands and that legal action is being taken against the suspects.
Additionally, SP Saddar Dr Ghayur Ahmad Khan visited the Jinnah Hospital to inquire after the injured persons and gathered further information regarding the incident.
Earlier, the Qila Gujjar Singh police received a 15 emergency call reporting a street fight at Qadri Chamber, Hall Road.
Police reached the scene where individuals named Azam Butt, Khuzayma, Azeem Butt and others were involved in a violent altercation using sticks and rods.
The police attempted to stop the fight at which the suspects Khuzayma and Azeem Butt attacked them. The suspects injured members of the police team and tore their uniforms.
The police team took action and registered a first information report against the attackers.
With the help of human intelligence, the suspects who had fled the scene were arrested within hours.
