Lahore man arrested for involvement in illegal organ transplants

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested an alleged key member of a gang involved in illegal organ transplants.

On the directives of FIA Director General Rafat Mukhtar, a crackdown is underway against those involved in illegal kidney transplants.

According to the FIA Lahore spokesperson,the arrested suspect, Irfan Aslam, was involved in the illegal trade of human organs. “The key suspect was arrested in Lahore on Friday on the complaint of the victim,” he said.

He said the suspect would prepare fake tissue-matching reports to trap patients in need of kidney transplants.

“The suspect extorted millions of rupees from patients and used private hospitals for conducting the illegal procedures,” the spokesperson said and added the suspect was wanted by the FIA Lahore since 2024.

“Initial investigations suggest that several other persons are also involved in this heinous network, “ he said.

Following the suspect’s interrogation, arrests of other culprits and facilitators were expected, he said.
