13 killed as buses collide near Jhang

JHANG, May 14: Thirteen people were killed and several others injured on Sunday when two buses collided with each other on the Jhang-Chiniot road near here.

According to police, the accident occurred at the Gadianwala bridge near Bhawana, when a Lahore-bound bus carrying licence plate BN-6400 collided with another bus (LY-2457) coming from the opposite direction.

Thirteen passengers died on the spot and several others were injured. The injured passengers were admitted to Chiniot hospital.

Officials have only been able to identify four of the deceased victims. They were Iqra, a resident of Muridke, Sheikh Amin of Jhang, Khalid of Mandi Shah Jewna and Zakia of Chiniot.

The list of injured included the names of Ayub, Sajid, Tariq, Muhammad Yasin, Abdul Hamid, Ali Hussain, Muhammad Mansha, Zahir Abbas and Ghazala. —APP
