No future for corrupt politicians: Musharraf
ISLAMABAD, May 15: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has said that there is no future for rejected and corrupt politicians and people will not be lured by these elements at any cost. He was talking to a group of members of parliament and Nazims from Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha and Faisalabad, who had called on him on Monday.
President Musharraf said that those who in the past had been involved in corruption would not come to power again. They transferred national wealth to foreign banks and brought the country at the verge of economic crisis, he added.
He said that he was confident enough that people would not vote in favour of corrupt elements in the next general elections.
He hoped that the next government would continue the policies and reforms introduced by the present government. The policies and reforms introduced by the present government had brought long lasting impact on the national economy, he added.
However, he acknowledged that price hike and unemployment were the major problems the present government was facing.
“But the government is taking every possible step to control inflation and bring down unemployment ratio,” he said and added: “The federal government in collaboration with provincial governments will take necessary steps for overcoming the problems created by inflation.”—Online
