KHAIRPUR: Breach inundates village, crops

KHAIRPUR, May 19: A breach of about 60 feet wide occurred in the Abul Wah, the main irrigation artery of the district, on Friday. The breach, which developed at RD-28, submerged the Ali Mohammad Narejo village and cotton, vegetables crops, date-palm orchards spreading over 200 acres of land. A fish farm also inundated.

The flood water badly damaged the Khairpur-Ahmedpur-Ripri road.

As a result, traffic remained suspended.

The villagers said that the breach occurred due to inefficient officials of the Sindh irrigation department.
