HYDERABAD: Robbery accused escape from custody
HYDERABAD, May 24: Two persons detained by the Hatri investigation police in connection with a robbery case escaped from custody on Wednesday during the course of investigation.
Six policemen, including in-charge investigation, have been suspended by the SP of Investigation for negligence in duty and a case has been lodged against them under the PPC and Police Order 2002.
The Hatri police said that the investigation wing had arrested Saleem son of Haji Raheem and Nizam alias Sobho Ghelo on May 23 for their alleged involvement in a case lodged under section 17(3) of Hudood Ordinance for committing a robbery at a petrol pump.
An amount of around Rs450,000 were looted.
Police said that on Wednesday they were being taken to some place the arrest of their co-accused.
When the police mobile reached near Mirpurkhas railway crossing, they jumped out and fled, police sources confirmed.
Six policemen including sub-inspector Ghulam Nabi Panwhar, police constables Asghar, Akram, Abdul Ghani and Usman were put under suspension by SP investigation.
It was learnt that the accused had been arrested few days back but their arrests were not disclosed officially and they were being interrogated at a private place of one of suspended policemen.
