PCB to probe Shoaib’s absence

LAHORE, May 26: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M. Khan on Friday said that a probe would be conducted into Shoaib Akhtar's absence from the conditioning camp at the Qadhafi Stadium.

He said Shoaib was still missing from the camp and the PCB was trying to trace him.

Shoaib, along with 20 other probables had been called to attend the camp set up for the forthcoming tour of England.

Shaharyar said the PCB wanted to contact Shoaib and was hopeful that the pacer would report in the camp soon.

Ten probables of the Pakistan team were playing two ODIs against Asian XI in Jeddah and are to join from May 28.

The PCB chairman said he would announce names of officials of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) by Tuesday.

He met with newly appointed NCA director Mudassar Nazar on Friday to finalise the names of the officials.

Commenting on delay in implementation of the new constitution of the PCB, he said it was still with the President Pervez Musharraf.

The chairman said some more amendments could be incorporated in the constitution till its final approval by the president.

He said that according to the new constitution the chairman would appoint chief executive and directors. Earlier, the patron had to appoint chairman, chief executive and treasurer.
