HYDERABAD: STPP rejects Kalabagh

HYDERABAD, June 11: Sindh Taraqi Passand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has taken strong exception to the statement of federal minister Kamil Ali Agha in the Senate on the Kalabagh dam.

In a statement faxed to Dawn on Sunday, he said that the statement smacked of fascism as it was reminiscent of the statement of Gen Tikka Khan in Bengal, “we want land not people”.

Dr Magsi said that the construction of Kalabagh dam was not being opposed by a few political parties and leaders of the country but by the overwhelming majority of the people of Sindh, Balochistan, the NWFP and the Seraiki belt.

He said that history was witness to the fact that wherever nations were subjugated at the point of bayonet and will of the people was bulldozed, the nations continued to survive but the countries were disintegrated.

He said that the language being used by the rulers clearly indicated that they were determined to break Pakistan.

He said that if the country was disintegrated due to wrong policies of the rulers, none else but they would be responsible for undermining the integrity of the country.
