HYDERABAD: Central library to be set up in Hyderabad: nazim

HYDERABAD, June 14: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that for the first time the district will make a separate allocation in the budget for the promotion of literature and establish a central library in the Holmstead Hall and other parts of the city.

Speaking as chief guest at the launching ceremony for a book on poetry “Sahebo” by Danish Mehdi at the Basant Hall on Tuesday night, he said that the district would also renovate the Mehran Arts Council and equip it with latest facilities.

Mr Jamil said that the city was a centre of literary and cultural activities in the past and it was his government’s intention to make it a hub of literary activities again. The district in this connection recently organised an international mshaira after a very long interval, he said.

The district had decided to make the international mushaira an annual feature in the city, he said.

He praised Danish Mehdi’s poetic work and said it was a valuable addition to Urdu literature. He announced that the district would buy the book to make it available in all libraries of the city.

Noted writers and poets, Taj Joyo, Parwano Bhatti, Ishrat Ali Khan, Naseer Mirza and Farooq Mughal attended the book-launch ceremony.

TMA: Town Nazim Javed Jabbar said that the taluka municipal administration had almost finalized acquiring land for the Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

Mr Jabbar said while speaking to workers at a cheques-distribution ceremony at the staff union CBA office on Tuesday that the administration would provide more facilities to the workers in the upcoming budget.

CBA Union General Secretary Akram Rajput expressed the hope that the municipal administration would consider the employees’ charter of demands. He assured of full cooperation to the administration on behalf of employees.

FINAL NOTICES: Town Nazim Javed Jabbar issued on Wednesday final notices to the tenants of municipal properties asking them to clear their outstanding dues by the end of current month or risk cancellation of their tenancy.

Mr Jabbar warned that no further extension would be allowed to them in the payment of rent.

Meanwhile, Recovery In-charge Mohammad Rafique Rajput sealed two cattle pens in the Buffalo Colony, Hala Naka for defaulting on rent.
