SANGHAR: Seminar on saving life of mother, child

SANGHAR, June 27: A woman dies every hour in Sindh while giving birth and 45 contract gynaecological diseases including problems in passing urine, said Dr Sher Shah Syed on Tuesday.

Dr Syed, who is project director of midwife project, said while addressing a seminar on “Saving life of mother and child during pregnancy and delivery” that diseases could be control by creating awareness among women in rural areas.

EDO (Health) Dr Abdul Majid Chhutto said that eight centres with trained staff and necessary equipment had been established in the district with the help of Unicef to take care of delivery cases and control death rate and diseases during delivery.

District Nazim Haji Khuda Bux Rajar promised that the district government would extend full cooperation to the health sector.

The seminar was organized by Unicef.
