21 killed in Iraq

BAQUBA, June 27: At least 21 people were killed on Tuesday in rebel attacks across Iraq as violence continued unabated for the second day after a peace plan was unveiled to end the bloodshed.

Three people were killed and 10 others wounded in a suicide bombing in the northern oil hub of Kirkuk as a bomber detonated his car at a petrol station used by government officials, security officials said.

The bomber blew up his car as a number of civil servants were filling their cars and destroyed the station and a number of vehicles.

An official from a local petroleum products distribution company said all the service stations would be closed indefinitely.

Also in Kirkuk, an Iraqi army soldier, a civilian and a village chief were shot dead in different attacks. In Baquba 10 people were shot dead by gunmen in a spate of attacks.—AFP
