LHC, SC registry remain closed

LAHORE, July 11: The Lahore High Court’s principal seat and its Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Multan benches remained closed on Tuesday to mourn the death of Justice Nazir Ahmad Siddiqui and Justice Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti in a plane crash near Multan on Monday.

Three full benches of the Supreme Court working at the Lahore Registry also did not work on Tuesday. Some orders were passed by the judges in their chambers in urgent nature cases.

Justice Bhatti was laid to rest at his native village in Sangla Hill. LHC Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry and judges of superior courts also attended the funeral.

Justice Siddiqui’s funeral prayers held in Multan were also attended, among others, by judges of superior courts.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry visited the residence of late Justice Bhatti in Sangla Hill and offered condolences to his sons Amir Nawaz, Usman Nawaz and Faizan Nawaz.

QURAN KHWANI: Quran khawani for Justice Bhatti will be held on Wednesday (today) at 6pm at GOR-I Officers Mess and for Justice Siddiqui on Thursday at 4:30pm at Gulghasht Colony, Judges Rest House, Multan.

Qul for Prof Dr Iftikhar Ali Raja will also be held on Wednesday after Asr prayers at Muhammadi Mosque, Hali Road, Gulberg.—APP
