Daska POs again active with fresh demands
SIALKOT, July 13: Gangs of notorious proclaimed offenders have again carried out their criminal activities with their fresh demands of protection money from three traders of Daska.
The Daska police are still unable to arrest POs who have made lives of Daska-based industrialists, traders and politicians miserable with their repeated demands of protection money through telephone calls.
Sources said that the Yasir alias Yasiru gang and the Iftikhar alias Bichhu gang were quite active in this nasty practice.
These gangsters have now demanded Rs1 million each protection money from three traders and government contractors. Demands were made from contractor Inayat Ali of Muhallah Bijli Ghar, trader-cum-contractor Muhammad Azeem Butt and trader and owner of a private school Muhammad Yameen.
During their telephonic calls, POs warn these traders that they have again returned to rule in Daska under the alleged patronage of the local police and that they will go all length to achieve their targets. Gangsters have given the three traders a week’s deadline to pay them the required money otherwise their whole families will be killed.
Daska police have registered separate cases in this regard with no arrest.
Meanwhile, traders, lawyers, politicians and professionals have criticised the Daska police for its failure to arrest the criminals.
Daska ASP Tanvir Alam Odho told reporters that special police teams were conducting raids at various places for the early arrest of these outlaws.
About a month back, these POs had made a phone call to Daska-based surgical industrialist Saeed Ahmad Mughal and demanded from him Rs1 million. In case of non-compliance, they threatened the trader with dire consequences.
These POs had also demanded protection money from Daska Jewellers Association senior vice-president Mian Saeed Ahmad, PML Daska president Bashir Ahmad Naz and several other shopkeepers and well off people in Daska.
