LARKANA, July 16: Former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, has stressed the need for launching a new political party which should intensify the struggle for making Pakistan a multi-nation state.

Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the Larkana Social Forum on Sunday, he said that the objective of the new party should be to get maximum provincial autonomy and to introduce democracy in the country where oppressed nationalities should enjoy their right to self-determination.

He said that the people of Sindh in the present set-up had been made subservient to Punjabis and Mohajirs instead of masters of their land and resources.

He alleged that different political parties in the past had used Sindh card to achieve their own personal targets and assured the people that Sindh’s interests would not be compromised.

He said that moving with wisdom and vision in the parliamentary system was the cornerstone of our politics.

LSF president Roshan Kalhoro, Mir Moula Bakhsh Leghari and Attaullah Unnar also spoke on the occasion.

SLGC: A team of Sindh Local Government Commission (SLGC) on Saturday completed special audit of district government for the term of six months.

SLGC Director General Iqbal Ahsan Zaidi headed the 11-member team which comprised Director Farooque Ahmed Siddiqi, Deputy Director Technical Allah Rakhiyo Kalo, Deputy Director Accounts Syed Ahmed Shah, Local Fund Audit Assistant Director Arif Raza, Liaquat Ali and others.

During its four-day stay in the district, the team visited certain ongoing and completed development schemes and held detailed meetings with the district nazim, district coordination officer and other district officers.

The team had arrived following reports of disharmony between district nazim and the unseated naib nazim.

The two had during the six-month tenure made lengthy correspondence with the SLGC accusing each other of violating the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, sources said.

The team conducted regular audit of six months performance of district government. It would soon submit reports about special and regular audit to the Sindh government, the sources said.
