RAWALPINDI: PAT’s women moot today

RAWALPINDI, Feb 9: The president, Pakistan Awami Tahreek Women wing Humaira Rashid, has said the first national women convention, which is being organized on Sunday would discuss the problems being faced by the women in the society.

Giving details at a press conference here on Saturday, she said the issues like domestic violence, harassment at work places, treatment as a second grade workers, gender discrimination and the role of women in politics would be discussed.

“A large number of women from various spheres would participate in the convention to take up the women-related issues with the special reference to their political role in the changed scenario after their seats in both national and provincial assemblies have been increased,” she maintained.

She said the convention would adopt a number of resolutions and recommendations for the improvement of the lot of womenfolk with the hope that it would go a long way in shaping out the future course of Pakistani women in every field of life.

“The convention would also discuss the role being played by women in new district and tehsil governments.”

The convention would be presided over by the PAT chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri while over 2,000 women activists of the party from all over the country are likely to take part in the convention.

Federal Minister Dr Attiya Innayatullah would be the chief guest on the occasion.
